LANGUAGE of FORM and SURFACE

"The ceramic works of Andrei Ovetchkine are inspired by sensual forms in nature and the human body.
The forms of objects are often fluid and smooth, so as express tenderness, beauty and erotism. But sometimes they are strained, bent and tense in order to evoke power, dramatism and motion.
The other distinguishing feature of Andrei Ovetchkine's style is the emphasis on surface and texture of objects: raw and spiny texture as a confrontation with the harshness of nature, or glazed surfaces, in an attempt to calm the senses.
The combination of organic forms and new textures yieldsa unique creative language and givs you a strong sensation of natural beauty."
